If you look at Tawanda “Tee” Hanible’s life today you might just see a bright and shiny success. She absolutely radiates positivity and has these amazing life experiences. On first glance, you would never know the humble roots she came from or the struggles she endured to get where she is today.
In her first book, “The Warrior Code: 11 Principles to Unleash the Badass Inside of You,” she tells her fascinating life story. Tee transitioned from struggling foster child to troubled teen, then Marine. Now she is an ultimately all-around awesome humanitarian, philanthropist, television star, author, entrepreneur, complete badass and one of my personal heroes.
Tee has done more in her life so far than most people could pack into 10 lifetimes. She served in the Marine Corps for 19 years, met President and First Lady Obama, hosted Fox’s Reality TV Show “American Grit,” runs a non-profit agency, and now she has written this amazing book.
These are just a few of her many accomplishments, and I foresee many more to come. She’s also my 1-degree link to the Obamas, Alyssa Milano, and John Cena, so I want to thank her personally for that.
A Quick and Enthralling Read
This book is the perfect balance of memoir and personal development. If you’re into gripping life stories or looking for tips on how you can turn your struggles into triumphs, this book is for you.
I love reading memoir. I think it’s the closest you can get to reading someone’s mind and that’s pretty magical. You never know the depths of pain someone has been through until they open up like this. Tee’s book gives a raw and honest account of her life that will bring you to tears, both sad and joyful.
At the end of each chapter, she breaks down the life lessons she learned from her experiences into actionable steps that anyone can take to improve their lives. She even provides space to journal how you’re going to move forward and apply the principles she gives to your life. Yay, homework (#NerdAlert)!
Help Tee Give Back to the Community
I had the pleasure of meeting Tee through one of her non-profit events. On top of the million other things she does, she has an amazing non-profit called Operation Heroes Connect. They connect veterans and active-duty military mentors with at-risk youth. Check out their website if you would like to donate or become a mentor today. Help support Tee’s mission of pouring light and love into the world.
